Open Air Evangelism-Fishing for Souls

While the term, “Open Air Evangelism” may bring to mind many different images, I want to give you an idea of what it means to me.  While you may not have thought of NYC as a fishing hole, that is exactly what it is.  Some of the same principles that apply to fishing apply to the open air, since we are fishing for souls.  We want to go to the largest “school of fish” we can locate.  We don’t want to go yelling and screaming because it will scare the fish away.  Sometimes using church “jargon” is like throwing a rock into the water, it will also scare them away.  Instead, we share the gospel with them using a sketch board and other gospel illustrations to draw them in so that they can “taste” the Word of God and so the Holy Spirit can work in their hearts.  After all, we are called to be fishers of men.  

 We trust that you will put on your waders, grab your fishing pole and be a fisherman for Christ.
